Sky has axed A League of Their Own after 15 years
Sky’s beloved sports comedy panel show A League of Their Own is set to come to an end, with one final, celebratory season.
The farewell series will be filmed in Manchester this August, playing to the biggest live audiences the show has ever seen, before airing later this year on Sky Max and streaming on NOW.
Romesh Ranganathan will return to host the special 20th anniversary run, joined once again by team captains Jamie Redknapp and Jill Scott, alongside fan favourite Micah Richards.
First hitting screens in 2010, A League of Their Own quickly cemented its place as one of Sky’s most iconic and enduring entertainment hits, racking up multiple BAFTA awards and delivering 20 series of hilarious games, unforgettable challenges, and star-studded guest appearances — from sporting legends to Hollywood stars.
The final season promises to capture everything that made the show a fan favourite, packed with laugh-out-loud moments, surprise appearances, and the signature sporting madness — all leading up to a joyful send-off for a true TV classic.
Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Director of Original Unscripted at Sky, said: “Series 20 is the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything A League of Their Own has achieved and to give it the send-off it truly deserves.”
“We’re incredibly proud of the show — it’s been a cornerstone of Sky’s entertainment line-up for fifteen years and has delivered endless laughter, heart, and unforgettable moments. Huge thanks to the brilliant team at CPL Productions and to our fantastic on-screen line-up — Romesh, Jamie, Jill and Micah — who continue to bring such energy and chemistry to the show.”
Murray Boland, Creative Director, CPL Productions said: “The first episode of A League of Their Own was broadcast in March 2010. The idea we’d still be making the show in 15 years’ time, having also made nine series of ALOTO Road Trips and won two BAFTAs would’ve sounded totally impossible. It’s been an incredible journey. We would like to thank all the amazing performers, guests and sports stars for all the laughs and inspiration. We’d also like to thank all the brilliant people who’ve worked so hard on the production team and crew.
“Thank you to Sky for allowing us the privilege of making the show and a huge thank you to the fans who have watched and supported the show over the years.”
More details about the final series and guest talent line-up will be revealed soon.
