‘Desperate Housewives’ spinoff ‘Wisteria Lane’ in the works.

DEADLINE has revealed that a new ‘Desperate Housewives’ spinoff called ‘Wisteria Lane’ is in the works.

The insider magazine reports that “Wisteria Lane is described as a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery in the vein of Desperate Housewives, set among a group of five very different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul de sac called “Wisteria Lane.” On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream: beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway. But behind those white-picket fences and smiling Insta posts are SECRETS”.

DEADLINE also speculates that the show called be filmed on the original set, which is based at Universal Studios Hollywood, in Los Angeles.

“Desperate Housewives” was a landmark television series that combined comedy, drama, mystery, and satire, creating a unique tone that resonated with audiences globally. Created by Marc Cherry and premiering on ABC in October 2004, the show ran for eight successful seasons, concluding in 2012. It was both a critical and commercial hit, revitalizing the network’s prime-time lineup and becoming one of the most talked-about shows of the 2000s.

The show was set on the fictional Wisteria Lane and followed the lives of four women—Susan, Bree, Lynette, and Gabrielle—narrated posthumously by their deceased neighbor, Mary Alice Young. This blend of suburban domestic life with dark secrets, murder, and mystery offered a fresh twist on the soap opera genre.

The new version is set to air on HULU in the U.S. and Disney Plus elsewhere.
