David Tennant’s ‘Genius Game’ leaves viewers confused.

Viewers who tuned in for the first episode of new ITV quiz show ‘Genius Game’ hosted by David Tennant tonight, were left confused.

“The Traitors, but make it a quiz show” seems to be the premise behind the show, but it was so complicated, that viewers just couldn’t understand it. To add to the confusion, Tennant himself had to clear up the format speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, where he explained he doesn’t “present it”.

Comments from fans on social media tonight included:

#GeniusGame is like the quiz show Bamboozled in that episode of Friends. So complicated nobody understands the rules. I’m just waiting for a Wicked Wango card.”

“I STILL have zero idea what’s going on #GeniusGame

“What the heck is going on? #GeniusGame

“Mood. I have no clue what is going on”.

So how is it meant to work? Well here’s how ITV describe it:

“To win, contestants will participate in a host of never before seen games all designed to not only test their intellectual acumen, but encourage them to carefully and creatively use the art of manipulation to outfox their opponents and win a cash prize”.

Tennant himself appears in a kind of ‘Richard o’Brian on The Crystal Maze’ kind of way.

The series continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1 and you can catch up on ITVX.
