The BBC has unveiled its comprehensive broadcasting plans for a revamped and modernized season of The Hundred, introducing fresh talent to its punditry lineup alongside interactive new fan experiences.
- Revamped Competition: The short-format cricket tournament returns on July 21 with significant changes, including new investment, updated team names (such as MI London and Sunrisers Leeds), and fresh in-ground fan features.
- Star-Studded Additions: England’s fast-bowling star Mark Wood, former India Test captain Ajinkya Rahane, ex-New Zealand international Katey Martin, and England Test opener Emilio Gay join the BBC’s seasoned commentary roster.
- Multi-Platform Coverage: The BBC will broadcast 16 matches live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, while providing live audio commentary for all 68 fixtures across BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra, and BBC Sounds.
The tournament begins on July 21 with a double-header between MI London and Sunrisers Leeds at The Kia Oval, culminating in the men’s and women’s finals at Lord’s on August 16. Alongside the traditional match analysis, this year’s coverage will feature a nightly panel show with commentators answering random questions hidden inside hollow cricket balls, the return of viral young presenter Ravi, and interactive “Ask the Player” options for home viewers.
