Freddie Fox confirmed for Doctor Who

Freddie Fox’s appearance in the new series of Doctor Who has been confirmed, after rumours began circulating last week.

The actor will appear alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Belinda Chandra in the brand new season, which launches on BBC One and iPlayer this April.

Fox made his acting debut in 2004 at the age of 15, appearing in the BBC series Doctors. However, it wasn’t until 2010 when he truly began to make his mark with a series of noteworthy roles. His first major breakout role came in 2013 when he starred as the charismatic and troubled character, Jack, in the BBC drama Cucumber.

Throughout his career, Freddie Fox has been known for his versatility in the roles he takes on. He has appeared in a range of genres, from period dramas to contemporary series. One of his most celebrated performances was as the charming and sometimes roguish Sir Charles Marlow in the acclaimed 2014 West End production of The Vortex, a play by Noël Coward. This role showcased his ability to balance humor and vulnerability, earning him critical acclaim.

He has also been involved in film projects, most notably appearing in The Three Musketeers (2011) and Pride (2014), where he played the role of a member of a group of gay and lesbian activists during the 1984 UK miners’ strike, working to support the miners.

Freddie is also known for his work in the BBC series The Pursuit of Love (2021), an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s novel, where he portrayed the love interest of Lily James’ character, bringing wit and charm to the role.

More recently, he’s appeared in The Gentlemen, The Crown, The Great, Slow Horses and House of the Dragon.
